Interesting. I am most interested by the 'wrinkles' in the kelp. I think I would rather see an abstract of the just the wrinkles, though I realize that wouldn't fit the theme.

This is a nice shot but I don't find seaweed the least bit ugly, so I don't "get" what you're going for. Sorry! I enjoy walking along the sand and taking in the flotsam/jetsam that washes up. This is a very pleasant image.

for me the form and the shadow ugly... quite with help of my fantasy, which is still there ;)
it can be a comet just landed in the sand or something different....
