Reflection a small part? :-s
The ENTIRE frame is a reflection!

Love this!

Richard- I gave you 5 across the board. Sometimes I wish there was a vitural slap we could give to some comments :)
pete said 990 days ago:
well, yes, now you mention it.. the floor.. silly me! sorry about that
MaximusM3 said 990 days ago:
I like it. Subtle, real, good composition, no gimmicks. Probably not flashy or colorful enough to be featured but high marks from me.
MaximusM3 said 990 days ago:
I knew it...Mr. Ford!!
RichardFord said 990 days ago:
My signature ain't that strong is it?
MaximusM3 said 990 days ago:
Yes it is. And that's a GOOD thing.
RichardFord said 990 days ago:
Well if you get the time - spell it out for me. Others say that too - but I can't articulate or describe what my signature is myself. I'm not able to be objective for obvious reasons to do with the whole concept of consciousness and physics...
MaximusM3 said 990 days ago:
For me...tones, the way you frame and expose, articulate the image in a simple but effective way, a good sense of geometry and how a human figure fits into that. Makes sense?
AnnaKath said 990 days ago:
I don't think the pic is about the reflexion ...
JIMJIM said 990 days ago:
nice compo
Ana said 990 days ago:
this is a nice shot. well composed.

@ AnnaKath
You are right. While there is a lot of reflection in there. It is about the human figure. He is one of my engineers and we had been on a project working into one of the public holidays. The client was of a certain culture from Europe that tend to be very arrogant, alouf and difficult to deal with. Suffice to say, being both on a public holiday, being messed about due to said clients cultural leanings and his cheapnes. Alvin who is a quiet lad from the north of China - decided to take a break and have a smoke.
Not many places in China state that you can't smoke inside and if they do - it is never enforced. This building they try to - yet Alvin was so tired and pissed - he ended up not noticing that he was sitting under a no smoking sign. He was so calm and relaxed at this moment.
So meter off of the window (centre weighted) - minus 2 stops exposure and shoot. Instant mood and shadows. ;-)

@ Max
Well I guess so. Frame and expose, certainly the latter with a dependence on photo shop and matrix metering which is a dying skill these days. Framing is just common sense. And people - well I find images without people in them totally dull.
Landscapes, mountains, whatever. Dull. Need people.

great 55555
MaximusM3 said 989 days ago:
I don't think framing is actually common sense..more like innate instinct in my opinion. I'm not talking about a simple rule of thirds, which any decent photographer understands, but a sense of geometric place. If you look closely at some of the Cartier Bresson work, you can see it there and it's fascinating.
RichardFord said 989 days ago:
Well primes help in that regard... instinct or internal balance - you are forced to move feet and kneel down and bend over and all sorts of things until the shot falls into place.
This was shot with an 18-70DX. No slouch of a lens - but this photo is very much from my time of which megapixel is better, which lens is betterm which software, which firmware, which test chart, which HDR....... amazed I did a normal shot while under the influence of those tech head drugs. :-s
MaximusM3 said 989 days ago:
Oh, absolutely. Fixed primes force you to think/move more and differently and rangefinders even more so. My approach is totally different when I frame with an SLR and I get a little lazy with them.
You know that's really funny, because when I first saw this image, It looked like one of yours but I was going to comment that it also looked digital. Then I thought..naahh...Richard is not doing that..but it's from your previous life :)
Beamer said 989 days ago:
Very nice, soothing image to look at! I like it!
RichardFord said 989 days ago:
My previous life was only 1 year - but that is all it takes to seriously damage ones bank account as well as give what I call "Camera Elbow".
AnnaKath said 989 days ago:
Interesting information, Richard. :)
RichardFord said 989 days ago:
Thanks Anna - I always try to shoot for a story. 99% of my shots will always have one. I don't often tell it unless someone pulls it out of me.

i like this alot, but less points on the relevance, as the reflection is such a small part of the photo
