This got Ford written all over it! :) Very nice..love the eye contact and it looks like you got fairly close, unless you were using a cannon..but that wouldn't be you.

No tele here... 35/2 and I was about 1 metre away. I prefocused and then yelled out the chinese word for guard and he turned around - click. Shot wide open at f2 as well on the F80. This is TMY2 at 800 in D76 1:1.

MaximusM3 said 996 days ago:

That's exactly what I thought. I was guessing 50mm but I knew he could feel your breath :)
TMY2 @ 800 looks great and up to 1600.

It's good.

I think it is fine up to 1600 when souped in DDX. I have been shooting it of late at 1000 and 1250 and then still souping at 1600 in DDX. Slightly better shadows and much tighter grain. In effect it handles 800 within normal operation - much like tri-x. 1000 is only a 1/3 of an extra stop. And with f 1.4/1.8 I am always in situations where I can shoot at or above 1/15 which is the SLR min for mirror slap. I find that the reason most people think they need higher ISO is because they no crap about exposure and metering. If you have some fancy camera stuck on matrix metering at night - it is always going to want to expose more than what is either needed - or what looks good.

Take a look at my entry for "Morning Light" last week. That was 400 speed film, f2 and 1/20 or 1/30. It was all due to correct metering (spot) off of the correct part of the scene.

MaximusM3 said 996 days ago:

I hear you..the only time I use Matrix is on the F6 and shooting slides..and not even always. Your "morning light" looks great. I'm assuming you went for the cheek, close to the nose?

RichardFord said 996 days ago:

F6. Oh I want one of those so bad!!! I went for right in the middle of the cheek in an area that had the ambient light on it and not the main flicker from the lighter.

I not only know who shot this, I know what lens he used!! I have the same lens and love it. This is a great shot, love all the detail the film brings to the table!!

RichardFord said 995 days ago:

Damn 3/3 this week! I promise that as soon as that container ship makes it to Aus, I will have new shots up (not archived) and with a less asian nature to them - so no more guessing what is a Richard shot! ;-)

MaximusM3 said 995 days ago:

Nice, Richard..going for the gold! Congrats.

Beamer said 995 days ago:

Yeah, shoot some white people now that you're back in OZ!! And for Heaven's sake get your butt down to Wagga, you might just like country living!!!

RichardFord said 994 days ago:

I went to Wagga once....got spat on by a sheep.

Beamer said 994 days ago:

Well, Richard what were you doing with a sheep in Wagga???

MaximusM3 said 994 days ago:

Scary thoughts..
