I like how this shot was framed. Nice contrast too.

I am biased, but I love this image. The lighting is superb and there is this sense of anticipation because the hand is at rest.

Ana said 2251 days ago:

love the light on the hand. great shot.

Nice take. That really looks like an antique accordion. I just wish you had gotten a shot a little more from the front so we could see more detail. High marks.

I would have been visible to the audience!

I like this for this theme.

I would dearly enjoy learning how to play the squeeze box. This is a very good photo of one of those old instruments. Looks a little like a pursang (the photographer, not the motorcycle), and that is a compliment. High marks.

pursang said 2251 days ago:

King, they refer to these as 'bandaleno' not squeezebox. I made the error and they corrected me. Argentina boys are very particular about the name. And boy can they play! Of course, if I was watching the dancers like they have, I'd play like crazy too!

King said 2251 days ago:

Were you in Argentina when you took this? One of our members, Eduardo, is from Argentina. Perhaps he will comment on this lovely photo.

King said 2250 days ago:

Monopoly! How'd you do that?...get two of your images featured sequentially on the home page?

TracyMartin said 2250 days ago:

Someone's on a roll.... Congrats Mark

King, this image was NOT taken in Argentina. With the exception of one dancer, the entire cast, crew and musicians of Luis Bravo's Forever Tango are from Argentina. I was allowed to shoot three live performances of his creation in January of 2007.

I have now been asked to go to Argentina by Mr. Bravo in late July through mid August of this year to shoot the auditions, rehearsals and first performances of this year's tour. We'll produce a book from those images that will be for sale. Beyond that it will be exciting for me to travel to that great country, as there will be other people to shoot as well. I have a feeling though that I'll be very busy with the project.

He's also having a film crew shoot all of the same events for a TV thing, so I'll be happy to be around others who are trying to get good light, expressions, etc. I'm hoping to learn a ton.

Mark,
Congratulations! I have much experience traveling in Argentina, especially the great city of Buenos Aires. July through August is a great time to visit. You'll love it.

I also have friends there, one of whom you will be delighted to meet. Let's talk about it.

dennis said 2250 days ago:

That's great news Mark. I'd be really happy for you if I weren't currently spitting with jealous rage ;)

pursang said 2250 days ago:

Dennis, the only reason to be jealous is because the DANCERS are SO DAMN GORGEOUS! And yes, I am YELLING!

dennis said 2250 days ago:

Aww dammit, I hadn't even thought of that. Grrr. ;P
