It was indeed 4AM just as the sun was coming up on the 90th floor KTV bar we were at for a friends birthday party. Fuji Superia ($1 a roll!) and careful spot metering.
In Sydney now and the weather is great! Air is clean and crisp. Finished my morning job hunting/networking off to get a nice Italian sandwich then back to the emails and job description mining... :-s

"job description mining." Have you considered teaching?? I just did some mining for a course description I would like to teach at a local uni in the spring 2011 semester. See, if you were willing to consider teaching then maybe you could actually get down to Wagga!!

I get it but I don't feel it. the light soucre is from the lighter. The lips however are hypnotic. Thus falls into another theme.

I get it, I like it. Compositionally I think you could have gotten more out of this shot. I dunno why, it feels a little incomplete. The lips are too perfect, too. But good submission for the theme.

Richard, I would have actually liked a little more face - the eyes to be specific. At least that would be my initial attempt, not sure that would improve it. More ambiance didn't occur to me, that would be the next frame. Good point. Cute nose!

A creative take on the theme. I think it works well, but to me would have had more impact if the lighting on the face were more "morning-like" and not seemingly night. Presuming this is very early morning when it is still dark, just a hint of some sunrise color to the face would have been just that added bonus in my opinion.
