I quite enjoy the lovely soft blurred background of this image. I wish the bug were a little less buried in the center of the flower and his details made more separate and apparent to my eye in the sharpness.

I always feel bees should be presented in colour, however this is a terrific example of an exception to the rule.

Mono for sure. Knowing what that powdery stuff is on the legs and head of the bee makes me want to see it in color though. The extreme shallow DoF makes the bee seem to blend into the flower some.

This was shot handheld with my old D200 with the 60mm (90mm equivalent on D200) f/2.8 micro/macro, iso 500, 1/400 sec (windy day), f/3.5. Shooting with this macro lens on a windy day handheld was tricky to say the least.
