This is a reproduction that was used as a prop on a couple of marketing shoots for NBC where I work. It is now the proud possession of Townsend Coleman, one of the best VO guys in the biz!! He was kind enough to lend it to me for this shot!!

@King, thanks! I had so many great ideas of how to shoot this. Sound booths at NBC, a face/mouth speaking, etc. In the end, I barely had time to setup a quick shoot at my desk. If you now much about U.S. television network schedules, you know this is our busiest time of the year. I have been working 6 or 7 days a week for almost a month and getting home at 10pm or later most of that time too! But, hey, it's showbiz and I love it!!

OK, the pun is mic's are mono and this one's made of chrome, "monochrome"...

I actually shot this in a way that nothing in the shot had any color in it and I was careful to keep colors out of the reflections too. In the end, I had to work carefully in LR and later in PS to control the variances in the color balance as the light fell off. I was paranoid that folks would score it low on Relevance even though it was only tones of black and white. Even the walls in my office are painted with a light gray. I covered my wooden desk with black artboard, even turned off the amps to avoid amber and red lights.

@Beamer...I like my pun better.
