low constrast, minimilist composition, yet strong mood. Very much to my taste.

The Raven!! Except for the modern sign, looks very wild west!!

My favourite image so far. Congratulations.

Some people say super shot, some say great, other's say can't complain. Why would we? so how about if I just say Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds", or just entering bird land? 55555

Hey, George, congratulations on the well-deserved feature.
Shop talk: why does the image fade out on the left? Was this shot on film (if so, it could be an artifact of development)? I suppose not. Did you create the effect? If so, why?
George said 1021 days ago:
King, this is a crop from a digital image shot with a Canon S90 from my car as I pulled up to a stop sign in the Mojave Desert National Preserve. I processed it using Silver Efex Pro (Nik Software), which has a variety of built in templates. I selected one and modified it by amongst other things creating a vignette on the left side (can't be seen at the top left due to low contrast). The result gives me the feeling of emptiness off to the left, accompanied perhaps by a brewing sand storm. I like how it fades away.

BTW King, you can see another version of this at www.jargonhunter.com. Which do you prefer?
King said 1021 days ago:
Ah, excellent explanation. I would never have thought to do that...a limitation in my creativity.
Thank you! I just love shop talk, don't you?
George said 1021 days ago:
I love that you've introduced it to WS!
King said 1021 days ago:
@George...ummm, I dunno. They are quite different from one another and I like both, especially because of your planting the idea of sand storm in my head. Because of my way of approaching tonalities, I would tend to treat this image like the excellent version on your website (and you don't have to provide the url because, as you know, I link to your site from mine).

Aside: Silver Efex Pro (Nik Software) is expensive at around $200 for a Photoshop plugin.
George said 1021 days ago:
It ain't cheap, but I hate using PS which I'm sure in the right hands can achieve the same and much better. But my hands don't like PS. I use Apple's Aperture, which is much less costly than PS albeit in many ways no substitute.

Very nice! I particularly like the backside of the sign, how it isn't just a silhouette, and also how the light tapers off from left to right. Congratulations!
George said 1021 days ago:
@ursula: Thanks :)
Beamer said 1021 days ago:
Congrats my friend!
Beamer said 1021 days ago:
I'm with King, I personally like the one on your site better, but this one stylized in a very attractive way too!!

Thanks for your feedback Clyde :)

George the funny thing is this. We all have been him at least sometime in our life. Learning how to get along with some cray woman that took us just one step too far. Well past is past and you learn and move on. I call it. "Show Her You Relate" :))) peace out. Happy hour begins this weekend.

Excellent! It has a vaguely Japanese feel to it despite the western-looking subject matter.
