Great shot that fits the theme perfectly - the only quibble I have is that the girl is a tad soft focus for me, however, the technical aspects of this photo are overshadowed by the impact of it overall. Great job of seeing a scene that could have been easily overlooked... thank you!

Beautiful moody city shot. The bluriness adds to the mood.

This is the real colour of fluorescent lights. I had daylight balanced film so they made everything coem out green. The lady is in blur as she is moving. Which I can't avoid at night with a 35/2 and 400 fuji film. But on reflection adds a bit of dynamics to the scene.

Creepy feel to this. The toning is cool and I like it.
Perhaps a little sharper focus on the person would work better....or if there was a lot more movement in the person that would look good too.
It sounds like I'm contradicting myself but I mean movement like #42 this week.

@ Lemming. I hear you. I didn't plan on the blur as an artistic element like I did my shot for CITY with the couple kissing. This was caused by the reality of the light and camera/film that I had. I did fire of 3 in a row - this while not the sharpest of the lot for the lady - had the best feet and leg position.

A tripod with a high ISO would have given a crisper image, but it does get high marks for impact and comp.

nice idea

RichardFord said 996 days ago:

@ Debra. True. I shoot street mostly so no tripod. And I can't really change the film that I have loaded. ;-)

RichardFord said 996 days ago:

@Debra

Also high ISO though can give the same mathematical exposure as a low ISO and slow shutter - does not produce the sane image. High ISO is really good (all things equal) for better shadow details. I went for a slower film because I like to use spot metering and zone system and at night - go for no shadow detail at all. This was at 1/8th I think. The limit for SLR's is really 1/15th hand held. The xpan or another range finder would have given me the extra stop. But it all comes down to what is on you at the time. ;-)

nice tones

Like a lot of other shots, I am not a fan of silhouette for it's own sake, but in this case it works for me. Good image!

RichardFord said 996 days ago:

@ Flat

It wasn't intentional.. I have no motive either way as well. But with 400 speed loaded - all I could do was spot off of the two brightest areas and fire. The rest was bound to be darkened.

a bit blur
