Great idea, great composition..but dang, that color selection is curious. I'd love to know what led you to decide to do this. Did you take this for the theme?

PaulB said 1013 days ago:

Quite interesting but for me it comes across a little forced.

Nick said 1013 days ago:

Very creative. Love the reflection and the colors in the sky.

@Ana...your question has taken me by surprise at your keen eye! Alas, no...I did not take this photo freshly for this theme (although I should have...shame on me!) I dredged this photo up from my archives because it's the closest photo I have to ground level. This particular photo became a challenge on multiple levels. I had to take a photo where the subject was a mirror. So, I dragged it up a mountain on a stormy day and plopped it on the ground. Wipe, wipe, wipe...to keep it clean from dirt and rain drops. After trying several locations on the mountain, this one became the best of the bunch. On a technical level, processing the photo became an experiment on how to make a selective desat image without actually making any selections (which is why PaulB feels the image is "forced" and you are finding the color selection oddly "curious.") On an emotional level, this photo exemplifies my continual earthbound feeling as a photographer who is endlessly struggling to bring a little bit of heaven closer to my heart. I apologize for this long explanation, but couldn't figure out a more coherent way to make it shorter...;-) Anyways...hope you liked it and I appreciate your question...:-D

Wow! Opening this up from the thumbnail and seeing the full image was quite unexpected. It's gorgeous and very creative. I would've never thought of taking a mirror out and doing this kind of thing. The "selective coloring" is artfully done and the b&w is spot on. Lots of impact. High marks!

I think this image really jumps out. I'm a sucker for purple, so I really like the sky. Also bravo for all the meticulous work on the grass in front of the mirror in Photoshop.

This is the opposite POV of the what the Theme calls for! This is a high angle, the brief is for low angle! HOWEVER! You do have a "Ground Level" POV in the mirror!! SO I'll give you the score for Relevance and strong on Impact and Technique. Interesting choice for selective coloring. Did you shoot this for this theme? If so, this shows wonderful imagination towards the brief imo!! This is a strong entry that I suspect not all will get...

This is wonder Mae, I hope it scores well!!

What a great concept shot. I love the introduction of mirrors into photographs!

I had to come back and look at this one again (and again..). It's just so well done Mae and so deserves to see the front page. I love the creativity and skill than went into this photo. Bravo!!

The relevance is not very high, but it is clever idea well executed.
