Thanks - XPAN with PAN F 50 cropped a little off the left to make it between a 2:1 and a 16:9. Red filter too for the contrast. Came out really well - not usual for me to pre think concepts like this.

Great play with the shadow
RichardFord said 1008 days ago:
Thanks Petra. Just a shame the size here is so small. The tones and detail and gradations of this PAN F 50 (in DDX) is just sublime.
Beamer said 1008 days ago:
Very fine entry imo. I like the tones, I like the compo, I like the idea that is well executed!
RichardFord said 1008 days ago:
@ Clyde
As to the tone - that is the actual colour cast that the backing of this film gives the scan. I used to scan in negative mode with BW colour space. I now do RGB colour space due to a bug/issue in aperture only really wanting full RGB files. The side effect is that the various colours of different film stocks cast different tones onto the scan. One could desaturate to get back to pure BW. But in this case the colour reminds me of many that I would get with colour film when shooting into the sun or sunset. So I decided to leave it in. It is a happy accident so to speak.

skinny fingers real good mark :P

lovely shot Rich, didn't get the chance to rate it but would have highly.
RichardFord said 1008 days ago:
Thanks Mal. You should see the full res scan. The details and gradation are amazing. I was reticent to use PAN F very much as I always get micro spots that the developer doesn't get too and the crazy high res CoolScan 5000 picks up. But now that I have discovered the brush healing too in PS - I will shoot more. It is a slow film - but it holds something special where today 100 and 400 speed film looks the same.
I want to try that Ortho 25 film that Veron uses too for the same reasons now.

PS - My first weekly shot "Weekly Shot". Did this on Saturday morning after Jen-S did my previous concept and then pulled out the half used roll so I could develop it and scan on Sunday night. I hope to be able to do more weekly shots on a weekly basis - as it is so great for the creative juices as opposed to looking back through archives!
Heath said 1008 days ago:
@Richard:
I'm giving serious thought to *only* posting shots I've taken specifically for the theme. I haven't uploaded anything this week for that reason. Plenty of "ground level" shots in my archives, but I want to use WS to re-ignite my creative juices.
Heath said 1008 days ago:
Congrats on the feature, BTW!
RichardFord said 1008 days ago:
@ Heath. Thanks. I think it can be done. Announcment thursday, shoot with intent Saturday. Leaves Sunday to finish of roll and/or dev and dry and scan. Monday to upload after an edit. I wrote myself out of doing it weekly due to the speed of using film. But I just realised that it can be done quite easily. The whole process is in fact not the problem. Is is the creative spark and idea formation that is the real hurdle to over come.

Wonderful lighting. Just perfect.
King said 1008 days ago:
Oh...just saw this. You were very successful, after all. Excellent film work! Congratultions.
King said 1008 days ago:
@Richard...in the first iteration of WeeklyShot, the upcoming themes were suggested and voted on within-the site. Photographers could then anticipate what the upcoming theme was most likely to be, then starting thinking about it a day or two ahead of the announcement.
I know that we are still doing that in some fashion, but I don't know how or where...WeeklyShot Google Group?
Lemmingstone said 1008 days ago:
@ King. Yep. In the group. Brandon is running a spreadsheet type system for now.

RichardFord said 1008 days ago:
Yes in the google group docs. I am anticipating that water will be next weeks theme already.

Great shot, Richard!! Love the shadow that streches for the ring! And great impact also! I really like this! :) Congrats to the feature!
RichardFord said 1008 days ago:
Thanks Anna. Appreciate it. The ring is my wedding ring and the hand and foot belong to my long suffering maid, who I think I will print this and give her a copy as a farewell present from me.
Anna said 1007 days ago:
That's a great idea! :)
I love a photo that sparks the imagination of a story or two, this one really does that! :)
King said 1007 days ago:
@ Richard...thanks for the link to the higher-res image...I enjoyed looking at that.

You should see the 180MB TIFF on the 23 inch cinema display in full screen mode. :-O
RichardFord said 1007 days ago:
Or under a loupe on the light table... tis a bit better.
King said 1007 days ago:
@Richard, who wrote, "You should see the 180MB TIFF on the 23 inch cinema display in full screen mode."
Are you making a joke? Of course it would be more impressive than what I've seen so far, but 180MB? Why not just mail me a 30"x40" print?
King said 1007 days ago:
..or maybe a 60"x30" print.
RichardFord said 1007 days ago:
It is cheap as salt here to print. Just email your address and I will be happy to send one off to you before I go back to the west and absurd prices for printing. I think I had an A2 print made before on matte with one of those top of the line epson jobs and it cost me less than 10 USD.
And no - not a joke. Just trying to annoy you. ;-)
King said 1006 days ago:
@ Richard...yeah, but I tried to annoy you first! Don't bother making a print...I understood your point.
RichardFord said 1006 days ago:
@ King - just say the word - happy to do so. I am getting a heap printed for a small exhibition next month. One more and a 2 dollar postage tube from China Post is next to zero imposition.
