Great capture. It seems a little overprocessed though.

A slice of normal daily life that us westerners don't usually get to see
King said 944 days ago:
The processing is over the top for my taste, although this treatment may have been the most dramatic and eye-catching for the negative (assuming this is film).
Otherwise, high marks.

though the treatment doesn't do much for me it's nevertheless another excellent image. the whole scene is marvelous, and his expression priceless.

The image comes out of my trek in March 2010. I received a grant to work on a story on life in small villages. The time wondering about brought me into the basics of life where appreciating just the little things for people unspoiled could show deep pleasure. Here a boy enjoys the moment of his bath unlike an image of a child in a porcelain enameled tub with rubber duckies floating in warm water and bubbles, and stainless steel forecast which total a few thousand dollars. I kind of felt, unlike Eugene Smiths book on minamota which shows the atrocities of a big corporation polluting the bay with mercury and people suffering and recoiling with anger. I saw the spoils of corruption and in return saw the gentile humbleness of a rural Latin race. This is, in short just the tip of the iceberg on the the trip to El Norte.

About the process. I was attempting to give as much life and emotion to the moment of the bath by means of finding ways to process the images and capture a true feeling of water as a fluid layer on a child's body that is in motion and falling down. . cheers. After all it's out drive as photographers to try to bake things better and not stay in a world of standards that destroy the reality of depth as seen at that moment and incorportaed within a picture by any method of standard that flatten an image. Thus King I question the boundaries which few will tackle to stand apart from the herd. Standards are meant to be broken as always your friend. And yes we all begin at eh standard mark and try to break new ground. I am no different.

Wings, this is a beautiful image. Not wild about the "etched" look but I can see why you have chosen that path. It looks very statuesque and I'm sure it would also stand well on its own, without further manipulation. It is one of those images that can certainly work in so many different ways. Congrats!
