Damn you! Griffith Park was going to be my 3rd post :)
Great shot. The view from this place is just spectacular. Wonderful late afternoon sun.
When we were here last we watched one of the shows (amazing btw), my niece said "uncle Pete, I can't believe I am learning something and still having so much fun".
Just a little further to the right would have been ideal. High marks anyway. Well done.

This is great - very well composed image; I like the coloration too.

Griffith Observatory? I like the blue / yellow complementary tones and the person in the balcony gives a strong sense of perspective!

@kadenajack & Peter, you guys are right about the camera position, I just didn't seem to have one this nice from over there by the Solar Observatory.
@Hihosilver, Love the nickname, BTW!! Yes Griffith Observatory. I'm glad you noticed the guy, also another reason I choose this less than optimal angle. He really makes it for me.

The light on the building is fantastic. Just bordering on too harsh, but not quite there - just right.

Beautiful light on the foreground building! Nice contrast between the beautiful architecture of the.. is it a mosque (?)... and the modernity of the skyscrapes. The person on the 'balcony' adds nicely to the city picture and makes it more interesting! High marks! :)

And I got my answer... not a mosque, but an observatory. :) Lovely shot, Beamer!!

You caught this at the perfect time of day - the lighting is fantastic. This image works really well visually and I like the crop.

... and I should note, high marks all across (I was hoping I might help put this over the top and to the front page).

Well, Dennis you raised it, but still needs a bit of help:
Ratings Summary
* Relevance: 3.80
* Impact: 3.40
* Composition: 3.27
* Technique: 3.47
* Quality: 3.53
* Overall: 3.494
These ratings are pretty fair. As discussed above the compo is not optimal and I have ones where the skyscrapers of downtown are in a better alignment, I just like this one best because of the light and the guy.
Thanks so much for your interest!

Works well. Would work better if the city was more city and less green stuff/trees and fully encompassed the frame around the foreground anchor.

That's awfully fair-minded and equitable of you Beamer to view those ratings as pretty fair. True, they aren't bad ratings, but even though you know (and others who have been in this same location know) that there might be a more optimal angle for composition, this particular composition is still above-average and well-thought out. I also really like the guy leaning over the balcony and think he adds a bit more impact than the score reflects.
Relevance is always an interesting wild card with each theme. Sometimes I think it's scored lower legitimately - as when someone might have a really strict definition of "city" in his/her mind - but other times I think the score might be lower if a rater thinks an image shouldn't be featured.
I know you took a "break" from relevance this week, but even for those who didn't, a score below 4 for this image seems a bit of a stretch to me.
Anyway, just a few thoughts after seeing the ratings...

This image really jumps off the page when you're looking at the thumbnails. I'm not sure if it was possible to move to the right, but getting the city just a little more out from behind the building would be more pleasing to my eye. High marks overall.
