Very NY, very City, very NICE! This is an example where the blown highlights work because the rest of the image can support it!! Strong entry with high marks from me!!

Yeah, nice city street scene with good atmosphere. I like the hazy/shimmery light. I don't mind that the tree is center.

city shadows. not fan of the black hole on the upper left . A vertical shot would maybe have been better revealing the tree and more sky .

I love late afternoon long shadows. This is a common and likable style - but the subjects are too mundane - just a a bike and a pedestrian.

RichardFord the subject isn't all about the "bike and a pedestrian" - it's about the light & shadows. I think you're missing the point. I guess I'll never understand some points of views and that's cool. To each his own :).

I get what it is about. Hence why I started with "I love late afternoon long shadows". Could be morning too. I have seen A LOT of this style of image. A mate of mine on flickr (travelight) does a lot of work like this in London. And I have seen shots with businessmen in bowler hats and umbrellas - dragging luggage. Al sorts of things. So that is why when I saw pedestrian and bike - I thought it was mundane. Not the shot - but the elements in it.

This style of long afternoon shadows is done a lot and can look very cool. And it does look cool. I just would look for something other than a bike and a walking man to create those shadows.

We've seen a lot of every style of imagery lately especially city scapes, bridges and the lot that we are somewhat over saturated by it and which is so loved here on Weeklyshot that it's getting boring :).
