Not Monument Valley! Trona Pinnacles near Death Valley in California. Home to several big name movie and TV shoots over the years:
1. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)
2. Planet of the Apes (2001)
3. Just Add Water (2008)
4. Battlestar Galactica
5. The Gate II
6. Lost in Space (1967)
7. Disney's Dinosaur (2000)
To name a few...

This is beautiful and similar to one I was thinking of submitting...Monument Valley, which John Ford made familiar to the movie going public.
This is where?
High marks...hope you get Featured.

This is so beautiful. Excellent composition and the grain makes me almost cry that I have sold my Mamiya...
I expect to see a space thingy touch down any second.

Wide landscape pictures like these are, to me, what cinematic is all about. I dig this.

Wow....
lbimaging said 1041 days ago:
Cinematic maybe in a more "documentary" sense. Great landscape.
SandyP said 1041 days ago:
I very much like this for a cinematic theme.
Lemmingstone said 1041 days ago:
Beautiful scene. Cinematic for sure. Love the BW treatment.

I missed the opportunity to rate this one but I must say that I love it! Great work Clyde! Congrats!

Oh, sorry, Clyde! I really thought it was Monument Valley. It is a beautiful picture, and I'm sorry I got the places mixed up.
It's funny how when a person loves a place, it shows in their pictures. Not always, but sometimes. You kinda do that, Clyde.

Not to worry a bit Ursula!! There are 2 places in the California deserts that are really fun for me and close to my spirit. This one and Joshua Tree NP is the other. I find a lot of peace in these VERY quite places. Having lived and worked in and around the 2 biggest cities in the U.S. for the past 20 years or so, peace and quiet is a precious commodity for me!! Joshua Tree is a 1.5 hour drive from my house and Trona is a bit longer than that but not too bad. I'll drive to either at the drop of a hat...

Makes me want to go out there any try my hand at landscapes!
Beamer said 1040 days ago:
@mgremm, come by Claremont along the 210 and we'll go together, I'll drive up there anytime, on a moment's notice!! BTW, it's BLM land, so you can camp out right there among the rocks and stay nearly as long as you like!! No services or camp sites at all, just one privy. Bikes and atv's are ok, although they bug the shit out of me for the noise. The best of day's there's nobody there at all and the ones that do brave the 7 mile dirt road don't stay long.

kinda mission to mars, the kind of landscape never found in Europe. well done
mike42780 said 1034 days ago:
Very dramatic. I think the grain on top makes it look very cinematic. Thanks for the movie history as well.

Beamer I'll take you up on the drive. BUt maybe you'll have to find me in Ridge Crest, I think best times are in the late fall and early winter before the rains. but the could come in Winter with the rain
Beamer said 1032 days ago:
Well, Wings, get your dread head on out here and we'll go!! King and I are going to Death Valley in Nov., my fav month for light!! This is right on the way. BTW, Ridgecrest is one word and it's not destination, imo...just a place to get gas and piss!!

I was wondering when Monument Valley would come up! Great location, but it needs a few hundred people with horses and wagons and what have you not to make it :)
