Hi Clyde, sorry you feel lost and uncomfortable.
What you see is the actual statement of the Japanese American man, woman and child that lost everything in the American . Concentration camp known as Manzanar. It is not a pretty place but but one filled with broken Dreams.

An evocative still-life with an interesting subtext - the flag in the inverted jar plays an interesting role. This reminds me of old basements with their window sills of accumulated stuff.

wings, I've been to Manzanar a couple of times, don't remember this, but didn't spend much time in the museum. It's a place of broken dreams for sure.
Was this indoors or is this some of the stuff that's laying about on the base of the monument in the graveyard?

just drive to the back the main avenue,at the end, then turn right then left to the very back just off center back to the end . Get out your car start walking just off the grounds from the concentration camp. You'll start noticing a lot of broken white cups from what they where issued and then bit of a white structure, Its nothing to be proud of. If you break into the two guard house in the front you see the pain and agony of American families that wrote their hatred on the walls for the Japanese imprisoned to read and for the guards to remember as well. Thee you see the broken dreams of Americans that didn't understand as well. Again it is what we have hidden. The museum is only a show, white washed if you as me. My heart beads for all. I started going there in 87. I remember when it was just a forgotten hole along hwy 395.
your friend wings

Plenty of broken in this shot. Maybe too much. It's so busy, I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at. The b&w treatment just adds to the confusion since the tones are all so one note.

I see one broken item in the back, but the rest just look old and worn. It's a neat collection of items. Makes me curious as to the setting.

Interesting photo, with all the broken things. I am curious about the flag in the glass jar. :)

Composition particularly interesting.

the inverted jar with the American flag gets my attention...are you implying that America or the flag is upside down and/or broken? While there are misc broken down objects in the composition, none of these are the focus of the image. Sorry, this doesn't tell a broken story for me.

The metaphor with the flag is lost on me...but old stuff in state of disuse and/or deterioration seems to be the norm for this Theme this week. The composition tilt is to me not adding anything and, therefore, just becomes distracting. It also forces the top of the jar uncomfortably close to the top of the frame. I like the tones and mood of this.
