Didn't go into specifics with him. When I had a broken ankle this year I walked past him and he asked how my leg was. I stopped and chatted with him for about an hour. Mainly about how I had taken youth and fitness for granted....and had my priorities out of whack in life.
He has a symbiotic relationship with another man who us mentally disabled - but physically abled. Mr Xin is as sharp as a tack - so together they work out. He goes to church every Sunday and has an US businessman that pays for all his medical expenses. Apart from that he doesn't have much to do so he sits out in the street. In this case in the sun. He doesn't ask or beg for money - but does have a small bowl hidden back under and behind his feet should people seek to oblige.
I see him every now and then. He was happy to pose for this photo as you can obviously tell from his pose and facial expressions...

e image gives me little to go on. Seeing a cross says he serves God. Therefore he's not broken, only reconstructed for a purpose. Your intended impact requires a lot of assumption. This man is tough. He's out in the street and doing life. This fits with out question as a survivor and not broken. Broken is a state of mine or one's emotional self pity that renders him dysfunctional. his shot is merely an assumptions of the human condition. In his world he's probably doing better than all of us here on 'Shot of the Week
'.

I think I might know who this is...I'll save my comments about the Relevance and subject for another forum...The one criticism I will offer is the composition, it feels a cramped, just too tight for me. The railing bar on the left is very close the edge of frame and the top cuts the head just too much for my eye.

Nice Richard, they are right, very emotive!!

@ Beamer. With the 75mm on 6x6 it is quite a cramped frame to shoot. If you step back much things quickly shrink in the frame. The 6x6 frame is nice - but I feel it needs the equivalent of 135's 28 or maybe 35mm lens.
@ Wings. Well his body is broken... not commenting on how his spirit is or isn't. If his spirit was broken I wouldn't have been able to chat with him for so long and he wouldn't have posed so nice for me for a shot. ;-)

Powerful image. What's his story?
