About photo: This is Adam Barley, he's a dance teacher. The effect you see above is all in camera. Main flash on stage with him on camera left, it fired when I pressed the shutter release. (yes he's moving backwards here). This is a long exposure and I manually fire off two more flashes a second apart. There was ambient light in the room so you see the blur movement between the flashes.

The idea behind the shot was that I wanted to show movement. The poses I captured were a happy accident as I didn't know how he was going to move, I just told him to dance and ignore the flashes. :-)

tammylynn: when i first saw this i was struck by the initial profile pose. very nice. then as i looked at the blur it distracted from that initial effect, which made me wonder if it was done just to get the blurryness. of course, i'm not in your head so it's all conjecture :) nonetheless, as i said, an interesting and well done entry that i believe will (and should) be featured.
