The image is certainly black and white, however the subject matter is not compelling. With the composition so centered, it is very difficult to tell what the story is behind this image.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, mister pursang. Centering something has no bearing on figuring out a story behind a photograph. I have no idea what one has to do with the other.
this is a collection of girly things. pretty easy to see that. Rings, hair ties, make up brush, headband, and of course, my most girly item, my nikon lens cap.

and unlike most of the shots that will be posted during this theme, no colour converting was done here..... and I find that VERY compelling. No pink/ sepia/ brown colours here!

Well, I have clicked on this several times and shaken my head each time. And I have to wonder if this is really your BEST b/w shot, I would like to think it is not.

well.... it's black and white.
most of the other shots are not.
I did this to see if anyone would recognize the fact that I shot black and white items as opposed to taking a colour photo and merely converting it to make it black and white.

This is a colour photograph. I'll take my originality over pink or sepia shots any day.

I'll give you credit for originality but, to me, the image is not particularly good. As to b/w, I think a slight warming or cooling layer, and I say slight, is acceptable but that is my opinion.

and for me, that's a whole lot cooler than posting a colour shot and making it pink or sepia or dual toned!
Hey, colour me weird. :)
fitting in with the masses has never been my forte.

I gave this top marks because I believe this is a photo of actual B&W items, and not a desaturated photograph. Well done!

It's a nice idea Ana and has potential but this image looks too much like a snapshot of some b/w stuff thrown on to a sheet, which it pretty much is.

It's not compelling enough, has no hook for me.
