I see the idea you were going for, but firstly, there's someone in the background (so he's not alone), and he doesn't look like he's feeling alone (he looks like he's thinking up his next invention). It's also not pin sharp and I think the red is blown on his shirt (too much saturation).

Ummm...the person in the background is about 100 feet away and clearly not with the man???
Sometimes the loneliest people can be found in a crowd.
This was shot during a free concert in the park last summer. He was sitting alone in a crowded park during the concert away from the crowd with his back to the bandshell with the program in his hand...Speaks loneliness to me.
I only had the camera for about a week when I took this so I was just getting used to it and it was f1.8 (I was playing with DOF and trying to master the tricky autofocus with this camera, D200). This is also straight from the camera no editing since I didn't have any editing software at the time I did this shot and have not edited since, so the saturation was as it was straight from the camera.

I like the color in this photo, it would have been even more effective if you could not see the person on the bench in the background...

Thanks rrivas the person in the background is actually a mom pushing a stroller through the park. It was really crowded for the concert, but this man, although there for the concert, moved away from the crowd to this spot with his back to the bandshell.

It also was a fixed 85 mm focal length prime lens, so I couldn't zoom and liked the crop as it was. I wanted to get the shot with his hand up like that and I didn't want to risk losing the shot by waiting for the other person to wind her way along the path and out of the frame...some things you just don't have control over.

Why is my comment reposting every time I open the page? I closed it completely and when I open it it reposts...strange...
